Hudson Heritage — Town of Poughkeepsie, NY

  • OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

The historic Hudson River Psychiatric Hospital, set on a commanding bluff overlooking the Hudson River, was re-developed as a new town. The grounds planned by Frederick Law Olmstead will be retained and many of the buildings reused. Provided Pre-Construction and Procurement for an interim Stabilization Plan as a first phase in the restoration of this National Register of Historic Places Landmark. Comprised of over 80 existing structures built between the 1860’s and the 1960’s, the 400,000 sq. ft. mixed use project will include residential, hospitality and retail facilities and the restoration, when complete, will qualify for a Historic Tax Credit under the Secretary of the Interior Guidelines for Historic Buildings.

The existing network of roads and paths will, in many instances, be minimally modified to retain the character of the site, commensurate with the new vehicular access and parking requirements of the development.
